BLEPHAROPLASTY – EYELID CORRECTION
Our eyes are one of the first places to show signs of ageing, making us look fatigued, angry or old, no matter how young and energetic we feel. With age eyelids begin to sag and get puffy, changing the shape of the eyes and creating that tired or aged appearance
Eyelid surgery is normally performed under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation. During surgery excess skin will be excised and if required fat will be repositioned or removed from both the upper and lower lids. All lids can be corrected during the same procedure.
Blepharoplasty incisions are typically very well hidden: the upper lid incision in the upper eyelid crease, the lower lid incision just below the lashes or on the inside of the eyelid (called the transconjuctival approach). Closure is with very fine stitches which can be removed after 3 days. There will be some swelling and discoloration of the eyelids, but after the stitches are removed, you can use makeup.
After surgery you should refrain from strenuous exercise for about 2 weeks. Sun exposure should be avoided until the fine marks have faded, which they tend to almost completely.
