Non-Surgical Nose Shaping

NON-SURGICAL NOSE SHAPING

A non-surgical nose job refers to a non-invasive procedure where dermal fillers are injected into precise locations in the nose to correct the appearance of a bump or a droopy nasal tip. A wide range of fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm and Radiesse may be used to achieve this, possibly in combination with either Botox or Dysport to address problems with the nasal tip.

The ideal candidate for this procedure is someone looking for a temporary solution, perhaps to disguise the bump on the top of the nose, straighten a profile or crooked nose or lift the tip for an important special occasion, or temporarily correct minor contour irregularities from a previous rhinoplasty. The procedure often takes approximately 15 minutes and does not require any form of sedation. There is no downtime as such, and so a patient can return to work immediately, although slight redness or swelling post procedure may occur. Because the possibilities of the non-surgical nose job is limited in the results it can yield – i.e. that while capable of disguising a bump, it actually means making the nose larger, it’s not ideal for someone looking to make their nose smaller or narrower, change the shape of the nostrils or for permanent results lasting longer than six months. Additionally, a patient who suffers from major nasal deformity or breathing problems (issues involving the nasal structures) is also not a good candidate.

PHOTODYNAMIC THERAPY (PDT)

Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is a form of phototherapy involving light and a photosensitizing chemical substance, used in conjunction with molecular oxygen to elicit cell death (phototoxicity). PDT has proven ability to kill microbial cells, including bacteria, fungi and viruses. PDT is popularly used in treating acne. It is used clinically to treat a wide range of medical conditions, including wet age-related macular degeneration, psoriasis, atherosclerosis and has shown some efficacy in anti-viral treatments, including herpes. It also treats malignant cancers including head and neck, lung, bladder and particular skin. The technology has also been tested for treatment of prostate cancer, both in a dog model and in prostate cancer patients. (Source: Wikipedia)
